What was this all about?

The Seletar Hash House Harriers celebrated their 1000th run in Singapore from the 25th to 27th September 1998, the weekend before Interhash '98 in Kuala Lumpur. All hashmen and hashwomen age 16 or over were invited to participate.

Singapore, an independent island republic connected to Malaysia, is home to the second oldest hash in the world, and Mother Hash founder A. S. Gispert died in battle in 1942 at Dairy Farm Road, the site in Singapore where the Seletar 1000th run was held. Read the story of Gispert and his death here.

The three-day event started with registration and a grand reception (food, beer and entertainment) on Friday (25th September), followed by the 1000th run on Saturday (26th September) with on-site celebrations (more food, more beer and more entertainment), and a Hash Brawl day (more runs for you masochists, more food, more beer and other hangover recovery activities) on Sunday (27th September).

All this for only US$50 if you registered before 30th June 1998, or US$70 thereafter. The price included goodie bags with tee-shirts, hats, towels, beer mugs & coasters, keychains and other items. Free shuttle buses to and from the Echo Valley run site on Dairy Farm Road were provided.

The round-trip return airfare from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore is free-of-charge for all Hashers traveling on the Malaysian Airlines (MAS) special Interhash packages.
